Reforms aimed at unbundling, sell-offs still unfinished: ADB

ISLAMABAD: The support for energy sector reforms in Pakistan resulted in incremental improvements in institutional architecture, roles and capacity, but it has not been possible to complete the unfinished reforms aimed at unbundling and privatization, said the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

The report titled ‘Policy-based Lending 2008-2017: Performance, Results, and Issues of Design’ prepared by the Independent Evaluation Department (IED) of ADB stated that Pakistan’s energy portfolio has been the ADB’s largest energy portfolio for any country with approvals of more than $7 billion since 2005.
