Power sector’s woes: Ministry plans to raise Rs185bn loans to pay off loans

Ministry of Water and Power has reportedly planned to raise around Rs 185 billion loans from private banks afresh to pay existing loans as power Distribution Companies (Discos) have expressed their inability to pay loans due to financial constraints, well-informed sources told Business Recorder.
The sources said Finance Ministry has agreed only to summary of Rs 30.95 billion and asked Water and Power Ministry to share terms and conditions of remaining loans.
