Federal Minister for Power Sardar Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari on Thursday contested the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) claim that the federal government was discouraging provincial efforts to build indigenous power plants.

He said the 2013 policy was approved by the centre with the provincial consultation that was approved by the Council of Common Interests (CCI) and was now developing fresh to determine how much electricity can be produced in any provinces and on which source. He said all the provinces had again been requested to contribute to the new policy but those raising objections at public forums were not attending the meetings on energy policy and instead sending their junior officers.
