KE seeks additional supply of 150MW from CCPA-G

ISLAMABAD: The Karachi Electric (KE) has reportedly sought additional supply of 150MW of electricity from the Central Power Purchasing Agency Guaranteed (CCPA-G) during Ramazan, fearing that fault in Port Qasim Power Station could be prolonged well-informed sources in KE told Business Recorder.

The request for 150MW electricity from KE is in addition to 650MW electricity already being supplied at cheaper rates as compared to the cost of its own generation.

The sources said KE’s team recently held a meeting with Secretary Power Division, Yosus Naseem Khokhar and discussed woes of the utility with respect to the current situation in Karachi and expected hue and cry during Ramazan.

Supreme Court of Pakistan has also given a deadline to CEO, KE Tayyab Tareen to resolve the electricity issue of Karachi within a few days.
