Grid station fire suspends power supply for hours

LAHORE: As loadshedding on high loss feeders continues, Lahore’s northern parts, especially Daroghawala and adjoining localities, remained without light for several hours on Friday after a 132kV grid station caught fire forcing the officials to shut the electricity distribution operation.

The fire erupted at about 2:30pm and was put out at about 3:45pm by rescuers and Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) officials.

“After extinguishing the fire, the supply was restored gradually,” said a spokesperson for Lesco in a press release. On the other hand, loadshedding in high loss feeders continued on Friday. The situation in rural areas is worst as people have been facing loadshedding on hourly basis.
