Europe Power-Spot power prices slip on lower demand, German wind output

PARIS – European spot electricity prices for day-ahead delivery dipped on Wednesday on the back of forecasts for lower consumption, and increased wind power generation in Germany, while year-ahead contracts came off recent highs tracking the fall in oil, coal and carbon prices.

The German day-ahead baseload power contract for Thursday delivery fell 9.4 percent, or 4 euros to 38.50 euros ($45.17) a megawatt-hour (MWh).
