Nandipur Power Plant resumes operation

LAHORE: The 425MW gas-fired Nandipur Power Plant has resumed operation after the Chinese firm responsible for its operation and maintenance completed the work.

The plant was closed last month by the firm – China’s Hydro Electric Power System Engineering Company – after the power division approved its shutdown on the request of its subsidiary – Northern Power Generation Company Limited (Gencos Holding Limited).

“The operation and maintenance contractor completed the task some days ago and now the plant is operational, adding power to the national grid. However, I cannot tell exactly how many megawatts are being generated and added to the national grid by the plant at the moment,” a senior official of the company told Dawn on Tuesday.
