Pleasant weather cuts power demand, not loadshedding

LAHORE: Despite reduction in the consumption of power in Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) areas, mainly due to rains, loadshedding on high loss feeders is going on.

Also, individual complaints related to faults in 100kV and 200kV transformers, 11kV power distribution and low tension wires are also on the rise as Lesco’s field staff seems unable to rectify the faults immediately.

Lesco has no power shortfall, as its total demand ranges between 3,000 to 3,500MW in peak hours in these days. During the severe hot spell last week, the company’s demand stood at 4,200 to 4,700MW in peak hours. About 15 days before, the demand even crossed 5,000MW.
