NEPRA hikes electricity tariff amid Fuel Price Adjustment

Islamabad: The Power Sector Regulator on Wednesday, October 23, reviewed and assessed an upsurge of Rs.1.6615/kWh in the applicable tariff for XWDISCOs on account of deviations in the fuel charges for the month of August 2019. NEPRA in an official press release defined the existing Actual Fuel Charges Component for August 2019 as Rs.4.8660/kWh, while the Corresponding Reference Fuel Charges Component Rs.3.2045/kWh and Fuel Price Variation for the month of August 2019, increase Rs.1.6615/kWh. The authority further emphasized key implications of the tariff hike and clarified that the surge in price shall be applicable to all the consumer categories except lifeline consumers (Below 300 Units). Moreover, it shall be shown separately in the consumers’ bills on the basis of units billed to the consumers in the month of August 2019. Similarly, the regulator further clarified that the XWDISCOs shall reflect the fuel charges adjustment in respect of August 2019 in the billing month of November 2019.
