Electricity generation in Iraq at its highest: Official

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region- Parts of Iraq particularly the capital Baghdad have reached the highest level of electricity production and supply in recent months, said an engineer with Baghdad’s electricity transmission in the wake of widespread protests in the country’s south for better services.

Director General of Baghdad’s public electricity transmissions company, engineer Wafi Mohammed al-Miyahi, said that on July 19 power generation from the national electricity networks reached 15,900 megawatts.

“The capital Baghdad was provided with 4,260 megawatts,” reads a statement from Iraq’s Ministry of Electricity.
